Still a shock to myself but I've decided to sign up for the 2025 Chicago Marathon that will take place in October. Since moving to Chicago at the end of 2023, I've made it a point to focus more on my health. With that, I've picked up running on a consistent basis - having the lakefront within walking distance is a plus that I don't take for granted and makes those runs much more enjoyable and scenic!
Running has provided a nice escape where I'm able to think through any thoughts and really push myself to see how far I'm able to go. Additionally, during some of my longer runs, I've taken time time to think about my Dad and connect with him. Growing up, I would always remember my Dad going for runs in the morning before we left for school. Since my Dad passed in 2017, I believe these runs have given me a chance to feel like he's with me and watching over my life.
I've partnered with Chicago Run and will be supporting their cause by doing this fundraiser. Chicago Run empowers thousands of young people from Pre-K through high school with equitable access to inclusive running and physical activity programs. Through the power of sport, Chicago Run builds resilience to stress and trauma and develop social and emotional skills. Learn more here!
